Telangana Realty Sector Awaits New RERA Chairman Amid Pending Project Clearances
SAMUEL JOSHUA
The Telangana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TG-RERA) has been left without a Chairman following the resignation of former chairman Dr. N. Satyanarayana, raising concerns across Hyderabad’s fast-growing real estate sector over delays in project approvals, hearings and grievance redressal mechanisms.
Dr. Satyanarayana stepped down recently, citing health issues caused by prolonged bench hearings and continuous administrative responsibilities during his three-year tenure at the regulatory body.
His exit comes at a crucial phase when Hyderabad’s real estate market is witnessing rapid expansion across residential, commercial and mixed-use segments, amid rising project launches and new large-scale developments across emerging growth corridors.
With no immediate announcement on the appointment of a new Chairman, industry stakeholders say the absence of leadership at the regulatory authority could affect the pace of approvals and overall governance.
Developers and homebuyers are closely watching who will be appointed as the next RERA chief, as any delay in the appointment process could further prolong project clearances. The position plays a key role in project registrations, dispute resolution and regulatory oversight.
While hearings are currently on a holiday break, Hyderabad’s fast-growing real estate sector requires quicker approvals and stronger leadership at the regulatory body. Several developers are understood to be waiting for clearances for ongoing, upcoming and new projects, especially in key growth areas including Financial District, Kokapet, Gachibowli and Shamshabad.
As the appointment process for a new Chairman is expected to take time, with the candidate required to meet eligibility norms and undergo the High Court-led selection process, industry stakeholders and developers are awaiting a faster appointment to help clear pending project approvals and accelerate decision-making at the authority.
